Lessons Henk Jan

Henk Jan gives instruction from basic to Small Tour level with attention to relaxation and riding posture.

Understanding your horse, his psyche and his athletic ability is a prerequisite for training your horse from the base to the highest level. Most problems are solved with my knowledge and experience. By using the “Skala der Ausbildung” system that we use, you have tools to systematically train a horse. I learned this technique in Germany. Through years of training I am able to pass this theory on to my students. In addition to my training hours, you can practice this technique very well at home.

By contact via legs, hands and the seat, the feeling with your horse can be greatly improved. During my training I will give you feedback on which aids are best applicable. I will regularly stimulate you with questions such as: “Do you feel that he places his inner hind leg away from under the mass?” This allows you to learn to observe and assess how your horse runs. You are therefore able to correct your horse yourself if necessary.

Many riders have unconscious blockages that hinder harmony with their horse. You can perceive this through a restless sitting and hand posture. The use of techniques to remove blockages is part of my training. Blockages are removed, your muscles are properly tightened and relaxation takes place through your abdominal breathing. I got to know these techniques in China and tell you more below.

I make use of three elements:

Equestrian flexibility

Muscle stiffness prevents unrestricted movement. Exercises on horseback and on the ground help improve flexibility.

Stability

Instability sometimes arises in the attempt to follow the movement of the horse. By promoting flexibility, a stable posture is also created.

Unintentional muscle tension is often caused by an incorrectly learned posture. I help the rider to become aware of this and to release the tension.
